- 1Go to the Avast Uninstall Utility page and click the "aswClear5.exe" link (see Resources). When prompted, click "Save" to launch the file-saving dialog box. Save the aswClear5.exe uninstall utility to your desktop.
- 2Close all open programs and restart your computer. Press "F8" repeatedly before Windows resumes. You should see the Advanced Boot Options menu. Select "Safe Mode" and press "Enter" to log on to Windows Safe Mode.
- 3Double-click the aswClear5.exe uninstall utility you downloaded to the desktop and click "Remove." The removal tool uninstalls Avast Antivirus from your computer.
